Virtua Fighter 3tb (Team Battle) is an updated version of Virtua Fighter 3, a 3D fighting game developed by Sega-AM2 and released in 1997 for arcades. The game was later ported to the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. As part of the renowned Virtua Fighter series, it introduced refined mechanics, enhanced graphics, and strategic gameplay.
The “tb” (Team Battle) mode was the main addition, allowing players to form teams of up to three characters and fight in a tag-based system where one fighter enters at a time. This added a new layer of strategy compared to the standard one-on-one format.
The game retained Virtua Fighter 3’s innovations, such as multi-tiered stages, sidestep mechanics, and detailed character models. However, due to the Dreamcast’s shift towards Virtua Fighter 4, VF3tb was not as widely embraced. Despite this, it remains a fan favorite for its deep combat mechanics and unique team-based gameplay.
