About The Game

Sega Rally 2 Sega Rally Championship is a racing game developed by Sega AM Annex and released in arcades in February 1998. It serves as the sequel to the 1994 title Sega Rally Championship. The game was later ported to the Sega Dreamcast, debuting in Japan on January 28, 1999, and subsequently launching in Europe and North America. A PC version was also made available in 1999.

Building upon its predecessor’s foundation, Sega Rally 2 introduced new vehicles and diverse track environments, including snowy terrains and island settings. The gameplay retained the dynamic handling that varied with different road surfaces, enhancing the driving experience. Notably, the Dreamcast and PC versions featured a “10-year championship” mode, offering an extended gameplay experience. However, the Dreamcast port, developed using Windows CE, experienced a reduced frame rate compared to the arcade version.

The game received favorable reviews across platforms. Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine, awarded the Dreamcast version a score of 36 out of 40. Critics praised its engaging gameplay and visual fidelity, though some noted performance issues in certain ports. Sega Rally 2 remains a notable entry in the racing genre, appreciated for its challenging courses and enduring appeal.
